PRP Rejuvenation
What to expect from this restorative treatment
To help restore your skin and promote hair growth, PRP rejuvenation is a natural, safe, and effective treatment to help you reach your aesthetic goals. By utilizing a unique process, this treatment helps create that youthful glow and can even help treat hair loss. It’s a popular treatment; yet one where we receive many questions. Today, we’re providing you with expert insight to help prepare you for your PRP appointment.
PRP AKA Platelet Rich Plasma
Before sitting down for this treatment, it’s important to understand the PRP process.
- The Draw – The source of the platelets is your own blood. This requires a blood draw as the first step to this process.
- Processing – The blood that is collected is then put into a centrifuge which separates plasma and platelets, containing beneficial growth factors. Platelets support blood vessel growth and repair, while promoting collagen production when microneedled or injected into the skin.
- Injection – From here, the PRP can be extracted and prepared for injection into target areas or microneedled into the skin. As a derivative of your own blood, this treatment poses virtually no allergy risk, while being safe and effective.
Why Choose PRP Rejuvenation?
That’s easy—in a nutshell, PRP is minimally invasive, highly effective, versatile, and produces natural results. The growth factors from the highly concentrated platelets and plasma are the workhorses in this process. As you can imagine, not all PRP processing systems are created equal. At Bloom, we use the AcCellerated Biologics PRP systems after extensive research and trials of others. This ensures the best possible platelet concentration in the plasma for your best results.
Since the procedure uses your own blood, there is virtually no risk of side effects or reactions. PRP stimulates collagen production at the dermis, the deep layer of skin. It treats hair loss by stimulating the hair follicles and promoting blood vessel growth. We can even help our patients lessen the appearance of scars and acne by stimulating dermal layer remodeling. It takes more time to see the results from PRP treatments than other procedures such as dermal fillers and Botox, because it’s prompting your skin to rejuvenate. The main goal of PRP for the skin is collagen regeneration to improve skin integrity—and that’s exactly what it does!
What to Expect at the Appointment
At Bloom, you can expect your PRP appointment to take about an hour each visit. You can expect us to apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area, a blood draw from your arm, followed by a short window of time to process the sample in the centrifuge, and finally the microneedling or injections.
Sometimes, mild bruising can occur around the injection site. Avoiding non-steroidal medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin as well as alcohol the week before treatment is helpful in minimizing the bruising. Bloom, you’re always the leader of your treatment team and your aesthetic goals are our top priority. It’s recommended to receive 2-3 treatments in 6-8 weeks intervals to achieve maximum results.
Pro-Tip: This treatment can be used in conjunction with other injectables such as dermal fillers and Botox to achieve your goals.
Aesthetic Results & Outcomes
The beauty of PRP truly lies in the fact that it’s naturally sourced from your own body. This means that results are consistent, with most patients noticing improvements within the first month of the treatment. As we mentioned just above, minor swelling, redness, or bruising may occur around the injection site but resolve quickly. You can expect to regain skin tone and texture, reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles and naturally regenerate collagen in your skin. We find combinating the growth factor benefits of PRP with medications is the best avenue to stimulate the hair follicles of the scalp.
One of the best parts of PRP treatment is that the results are considered long-term. You will likely need an annual refresh to continue the positive benefits, but can enjoy the results throughout.
