The NuVissa Plasma Pen

So, let us get you privy to what the NuVissa Plasma Pen really is. This device is a favorite technology of ours that delivers controlled energy in ‘dots’ to treat some of the most delicate tissues on and around the face. When applied, these dots cause small thermal injuries that encourage and stimulate the growth of new collagen formation and fibroblast. NuVissa Plasma Pen is used to tighten skin on the face—including eyelids, frown lines, and neck folds, and to remove hyperpigmented areas such as sunspots. 

In general, other treatments such as Botox or fillers should be performed at least 14 days before or after a plasma pen treatment. The plasma pen works well with lighter skin tones, as there is greater chance of hyper—and hypopigmentation with darker skin. For this reason, it is important to stay away from sun exposure until fully healed.

What Does Treatment Look Like?

You will start your treatment with an easy consultation process with our team. We will discuss your goals and be sure you are a candidate for the NuVissa Plasma Pen. From there, we will answer any questions you may have, address expectations and get you scheduled for the treatment itself. Additionally, we can discuss other treatments and services that could support you to reach your goals.

The treatment itself is rather brief spanning anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour, depending on your particular goal and treatment area. A topical numbing agent is applied beforehand to maximize comfort, but this is a well-tolerated procedure.

Recovery Period & Tips

The treatment site itself will need several days to 1 week to heal. You may notice some redness and swelling in the treated areas. This is totally normal! While you recover, it’s important to:

• Avoid direct sunlight (especially mid-day sun) 
• Avoid tanning
• Apply ice packs to help reduce swelling
• Sleep on your back during recovery
• Avoid acid washes, peels, retinol creams, and abrasives
• Avoid swimming
• Avoid smoking and alcohol

There’s more to recovery, but we will give you all the details after your visit! On average, the skin will take about 12 weeks to see full results for skin rejuvenation. This is a safe time frame to keep in mind as you consider other treatments and procedures. Some activities and procedures may lessen the beneficial effects of the NuVissa Plasma Pen treatment.

Results

Now, this is our favorite part! You can expect to feel tightening and have some noticeable results directly or shortly after your treatment. Your skin will continue to tighten and improve over the next six months. Plasma pen treatments are often recommended in packages of 3, separated by at least 4 weeks, so that the skin is stimulated to heal and tighten. Results include healthier looking skin, tighter skin, and less pronounced wrinkles lasting for three years or more. The most optimal results should start appearing by no later than 8 weeks after your appointment.
